The Fourth of July basically announces the middle of summer, right?

Even when individual summer days stretch endlessly beneath unrelenting hot, sunny skies, the summer itself moves faster than I can believe.

How about for you?

Though after our mostly cool and rainy June, I shouldn’t complain about the heat.

I’m not complaining — really — just stating the fact that summer has finally shown up in Minnesota.

The crops are soaking up the needed sunshine, and the low humidity has even kept things pretty agreeable for the animals.

It sounds like the dew point may go crazy this weekend, but right now Fourth of July Eve is beautiful.

(Is that even a thing — Fourth of July Eve?)

Moving along.

I’ve had several posts in my draft section lately, but I haven’t had the inspiration or found the time to finish them.

It’s shameful. Or at best, lacking.

Before another day slips by, I’m going to give you the 5,000 word version.

5 photos, each worth 1,000 words. And it shouldn’t even take you long to get through them.

Happy Fourth, everyone. May you be blessed with family, togetherness, food, laughter, and sunshine, or just some simple relaxation and a grateful heart on this day of celebration.

In spite of struggles, challenge, or pain, we all truly have much to give thanks for.

This, my friends, is a happy Calvin.

Our little barn; one last chore.

Like mother, like daughter. The photo above is recent, and the photo below is her mama 2 years ago…

Sometimes nothing else will do.
