It’s coming…
The Northeast already got it (if you’re a reader near the East coast I hope you’re surviving the snow), and the weather stations are all warning we’re going to have our own blizzard blowing in late tonight.
{Why is it all the mega snowstorms we’ve had this winter come on Sundays?}
Conservatively we’re getting 8 inches, while some forecasts say 13-15. I just hope the wind doesn’t get too crazy because any amount of snow is challenging if it’s being blown around by 20 mph wind.
And I just remembered I said in my last post I was going to quit talking so much about the weather. Oops….
At least this time I’m not lamenting the cold. It’s been a moderate temperature all week, 20′s during the day and maybe 0 overnight at the coldest.
Yesterday morning we had a delicate, sparkly covering of snow. The flakes were so fluffy it hardly looked real — more like that tissue paper snow you can buy to decorate for Christmas. It made a pretty scene…
Running Tales
My running has been more indoors than ever, but at least I’m building up mileage. I feel like mid-February is the time to start seriously training for my late April half, and mid-February is pretty much here.
With my long run currently at 6 miles I suppose I should be stressed, but I’m not. I think I’ve run 13.1 often enough that I know I can do it, even tomorrow if I had to. I do hope to regain enough fitness in the next 2 months to have a shot at a PR.
But… this race is about tradition for me too, as it will be the fourth consecutive year I’ve run it. While I want to run my best, I also know I’ve got to keep up with the rest of my life and be realistic. Sometimes I have a mental battle with myself about whether it’s worth it to race if I’m not in peak shape.
While I will never be one of those people who races nearly every weekend (time, money, and physical constraints all apply), I’ve come to realize competition AND fun are both valid reasons for filling out that entry blank.
Alright – time to get back to preparing for the weather. Happy weekend everyone!

The snow is so pretty! Its amazing how a new layer of snow can make everything look so fresh!
Enjoy your training…hopefully it warms up and de-ices on the roads so you get avoid going stir crazy on the treadmill!
